About

Welcome to T E N, the entertainment & literature revolution of the 21st century.

We’re on a journey to implement a new paradigm in the entertainment industry.
The practices we use at T E N are integrated with our personal experiences as artists, writers and business people; and our beliefs that collectively we can transform and empower a new nation with a new thought for the striving inner cities of America.

The arts, in particular, have been one of the most influential tools for conjuring social change and conditions in our society – good or bad – and yet, one of the most overlooked tool used in our political practices. We at T E N must set a new paradigm
by proving to ourselves and the world that arts & entertainment and literature are the keys to social change.

VISION
Our vision is to lead a national networking movement that will bring performer, creators and producers of the entertainment industry together with other business professionals, to help transform the quality of life for the troubled urban young through artistic expressions, and community revitalization projects.

MISSION
Our mission is to support and show case “positive message” entertainment and better community relation practices through our network

SERVICES
Training/Development (Drama, Music, Literature)
In parallel with T E N’s professional productions aiming for the market, workshops will be conducted for aspiring young urban community residents wanting to learn or expand their talents in creating, producing and marketing music, film, theater, etc. The workshops will create opportunities for local talents to express themselves in a positive way through performance and production, hence, reconnect to the community. Workshops will focus on the development of skills in three categories:

  1. Collaborative theme based instruction on music, film or theater and literature.
  2. Creating music and lyrics for theatre, film, record.
  3. Historical perspective of music, film, theater.

PRODUCTS and PRODUCTIONS
T E N will support all of its members products (plays, records, movies, books etc,) that not only tell a story or give a message about what’s going on in the “neighborhood” but a solution to any problems brought up in the story or message. Transformational entertainment is about transforming out of one situation into a better situation. The following upcoming production – the R&B/hip-hop musical “A Game You’ll Never Win” – is an example.

Coming Sometime in 2011
This is a must-see musical (written by founding member David Glover) that tells a solution-based story about a drug kingpin who turns his life around, along with a host of other street hustlers, to become an entrepreneur and community leader.

A Common FAQ
WHY THE STAGE? Why not kick-off with a movie first, or a video, DVD or television, or just a record?

Author David Glover responds:
“Well, that’s coming too, but the reason for the stage is simply, it’s live!, it’s happenin’ NOW, right before your eyes! through an “All Up In Yo’ Face!” performance. And at the same time presenting to you reflections of what’s really going on out there on the streets, hence, showing you a more positive alternative to choose from. No other medium is quite as effective. Musical theatre is perhaps the last grass=-roots medium to yet reach its mass audience in the low-income Black communities of America. T E N shall lead the way. Our approach is effective because we use an “In Yo’ Face” approach to capture our audience”.
